Hello! It’s lovely to meet you.
I’m Emily, a newborn photographer in Northern Virginia. My photography studio is in Sterling, and I also offer in-home and outdoor sessions throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
My photography approach is to create intentional, timeless works of art that tell your family’s story – especially during this very special time welcoming baby! Here’s a what you can expect working with me.

P.S. I also offer a discount if you book a maternity session at the same time, so be sure to ask about that if you’re interested!
Choosing a location
You can take your maternity photos at my natural light photography studio in Sterling or in the comfort of your own home.

Plan the Details
I’m here to guide you through choosing wardrobe, whether that’s from my client closet of dresses or helping you find outfits of your own. You’re welcome to set up a one-on-one appointment at my studio or over zoom, or we can keep everything email if that’s easiest! I’ll also send recommendations for hair/makeup artists if that’s something you wish to have done.
If you’re also doing maternity photos, it’s always wonderful to get to know you during that session!
Baby is here!
Simply send me an email with the exciting news! We’ll coordinate your session date at this time. I recommend taking photos within 2 weeks, however, I can be flexible if needed. Just note all sessions are on weekdays only.
Session Day Is Here!
I’ll guide you in posing so you don’t have to worry about a thing! I call it posing guidance since we leave lots of room for you to love on each other and be a family. For baby’s individual portraits, I take a relaxed, natural approach – no overly posed looks, prop sets, or outfits. Instead, we focus on how adorable baby is exactly as they are in that moment!
Newborn sessions typically last ~1.5-2.5 hours with plenty of breaks for feeding, soothing, and diaper changes.
Editing time! Turnaround is 4 weeks
I’ll be hard at work hand-editing each individual photo until it’s perfect. If you added film photography to your session, I’ll mail the film rolls to my film lab for developing. As soon as the photos are ready to view you’ll get an email!! You can expect to see at least 60 edited images in your preview gallery.
View the edited photos & complete your order
The best part! The email link will open to a preview gallery you can browse through in the comfort of your own home. You’ll select the digital images and artwork that you would like to purchase! You can easily complete your order online.
As soon as I see the order come through, I’ll email you the final password-protected gallery and download PIN so you can start enjoying your photos! For any artwork purchases, we’ll set up a design meeting to finalize layout and finishes.
