Hello! It’s lovely to meet you.
I’m Emily, a family photographer in Northern Virginia. My photography studio is in Sterling, and I also offer in-home and outdoor sessions throughout Northern Virginia, DC, and Maryland.
My photography approach is to create intentional, timeless works of art that tell your family’s story. Here’s a what you can expect when you book family photos with me!
Step One: Inquire
If you haven’t already done so, fill out my contact form! I’ll be in touch shortly with pricing info, availability and all the details.
Choosing a location
Choose from my studio, your home, or a beautiful outdoor location in the area! I have a list of the best ones – just ask for my location guide when you inquire. I’m also available for travel depending on my calendar.
Plan the Details
I’m here to guide you through choosing wardrobe, whether that’s from my client closet of dresses or helping you find outfits of your own. You’re welcome to set up a one-on-one appointment at my studio or over zoom, or we can keep everything email if that’s easiest! I’ll also send recommendations for hair/makeup artists if that’s something you wish to have done.
Session Day Is Here!
I’ll guide you in posing so you don’t have to worry about a thing! I call it posing guidance since we leave lots of room for you to love on each other and be a family.
Family sessions typically last around 45 minutes to an hour. Newborn sessions are 1.5 – 2 hours.
Editing time! Turnaround is 4 weeks
I’ll be hard at work hand-editing each individual photo until it’s perfect. If you added film photography to your session, I’ll mail the film rolls to my film lab for developing. As soon as the photos are ready to view you’ll get an email!! You can expect to see at least 60 edited images in your preview gallery.
If your photos are done a little early, you’ll get an email letting you know!
View the edited photos & complete your order
The best part! The email link will open to a preview gallery you can browse through in the comfort of your own home. You’ll select the digital images and artwork that you would like to purchase! You can easily complete your order online.
As soon as I see the order come through, I’ll email you the final password-protected gallery and download PIN so you can start enjoying your photos! For any artwork purchases, we’ll set up a design meeting to finalize layout and finishes.
