More family photos on film are here! These family photos were taken last fall in Old Town Alexandria. If you’ve been following along for a while, you may recognize Nayely and Ruben from their Fox Chase Manor wedding several years ago.
I had the honor of documenting both their Thomas Jefferson engagement photos and the start of their marriage. Their wedding ceremony was at the Basilica of St. Mary in Old Town Alexandria, so it was fitting to capture their family photos just a few blocks away. Catching up this past September and meeting their girls was such a treat.
Beautiful light filled the evening, along with plenty of fun family moments! Their little ones, Matilda and Camila, are such cuties. We had a blast playing games together. In general, I approach family sessions with a photojournalism eye. Yes, I put you in the best light, and yes, I’ll give you gentle posing guidance so you know what to do. But I also leave lots of room for playful moments because those are the real ones! Your photos should feel authentic to who you are as a family. The best way to capture that? Simply letting your family be you. Lots of games, snuggles and playing in the sunlight are always encouraged.
The Alvarez family did an amazing job at all of the above!! Shoutout to Nayely and Ruben for being incredible humans and raising such wonderful girls. Enjoy a few of my favorite moments below.
