Ken and Claire tied the knot during a gorgeous summer day in Washington, DC. Their ceremony took place at Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church, followed by dinner and dancing at St. Francis Hall. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: this venue is a hidden gem in the city! From the breathtaking architecture to the expansive gardens, it’s always a stunning backdrop for portraits. Golden light made their evening photos extra beautiful, especially when combined with the creamy tones of film photography.

I’ve been working with these two over the past year, and throughout the planning process, I noted how every decision was thoughtfully made with care. Every detail was taken care of. A few notable highlights: the custom watercolor monastery on the invitations, monogrammed gifts for the wedding party, a fun and lively reception for their guests, and of course my favorite: the amount of care they put into making sure we had enough time for film photos. When we talked during their initial conversation, Claire told me how much she loved film photography. Of course, I do too, so it was wonderful having the time to use this medium throughout their day.

You also can’t miss the bright, cheerful florals that filled every part of the celebration. Before the ceremony they also chose to say a prayer together outside the church, holding hands but unable to see each other. It was one of my favorite moments! It really highlighted the thought and care they will be putting into their marriage as well after the wedding is over. Ken and Claire clearly have so much love for each other, their families, and their friends by wanting to make sure everyone enjoyed the day. They even brought their adorable pup, Cali, to be part of the fun!

I also want to thank the team at Simply Breathe Events for making sure everything went smoothy! It truly takes a village on a wedding day, and it’s always wonderful working with a talented group of vendors. Most importantly, we always want to make sure our couples have the best time celebrating with everyone.

Congratulations, Claire and Ken! You both have wonderful families, and I loved meeting everyone. Enjoy married life – and a few of my favorite moments below!
