If I had to describe these Shenandoah National Park engagement photos in two words: “pure magic.” That golden hour glow, the views of the Shenandoah Valley, and Veronica and Alan’s love for each other was an unforgettable combination. While planning, we started with inspiration from past sessions I’ve done here. Then we made it completely their own! Veronica chose two dresses from my client closet. A BHLDN gown with detailed embroidery, and a more relaxed, casual cotton dress with a subtle floral print. Both complemented the scenery beautifully, and she looked GORGEOUS!
The highlight for me, however, was watching Veronica and Alan together. Not only do they look adorable together, but they also had FUN. Between my posing guidance prompts and their natural joy, we captured something really special. I’m so excited for them as they get ready to celebrate their wedding and the rest of their lives together! Congratulations, you two!!
This location is a favorite for photo sessions in Virginia. I’ve been doing sessions here for more than 5 years, and I’m still blown away by the beauty each and every time I’m there. The overlook views speak for themselves, and the sunsets are unmatched!
I’ve also found the best spots in the park, with no or very minimal hiking required. So you can enjoy these gorgeous views without stressing about the hiking logistics! We stopped at two iconic locations for Veronica and Alan’s engagement photos, and I love both of them for different reasons. The first one requires a very short ~5 minute walk to an overlook. The second one has the best of both worlds – a field with gorgeous greenery, and an overlook with stunning views.
No photography permit is required, however, you do need to keep in mind there’s a park entrance fee to get in. I have a small fee to cover my entry fee + a little extra travel time since it takes . But everyone who has done a session here has unanimously agreed – it’s well worth it for these views! If you’re considering Shenandoah National Park for family photos, engagement photos, maternity photos, or anniversary photos, get started here. Let’s create your dream session!
