Community Over Competition
Last year I joined a group of creatives through The Rising Tide Society. The local groups, called Tuesdays Together, include monthly meetings where creatives and entrepreneurs share ideas and business advice. I’ve learned a lot during the last year, but the biggest lesson is this: taking the time to build a community is always worth it!!
Why? Because running a business brings its own set of unique challenges. And when you have a community surrounding you, it makes it so much easier to keep going. To stay inspired. To chase that dream that seems just out of reach. Not to mention, having friends in the industry makes work so much fun! So when I heard my Reston/Nova group was putting together a styled dinner, I knew I couldn’t miss it!
Set at a beautiful Leesburg wedding venue – 48 Fields – this dinner was the perfect way to celebrate this community filled with friendships. Sarah from Sincerely Pete Events and Wanderlust Wedding Co. was the lead planner, and let me tell you – the event was stunning. (Side note: If you’re wondering why her name sounds familiar, it’s because she’s a guest blogger on my site! Last month she shared a few 2017 wedding trends with you. It’s so worth the read if you haven’t gotten to it yet!!)
From the cocktail hour, to the gourmet dinner to the dancing that followed, it was an event for the books. Every little detail throughout the evening was simply perfect. And I enjoyed every minute!! Especially the citrus cocktail drink! It was also my first time visiting 48 Fields, and I have to say the view was gorgeous. (I almost started looking around for a wedding couple to capture the gorgeous golden hour.) The entire evening I was extra grateful for this community Marirosa, our group leader, has created with all of us.
