If you’re expecting a little one, and you’re interested in relaxed newborn photos in your home, this blog post is for you! I’m Emily, a Northern Virginia newborn photographer. My natural light photography studio is in Sterling, Virginia (see more studio newborn sessions here), and I also travel around Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland for in-home newborn sessions.
There are many reasons you may be interested in taking newborn photos in your home. You may want to take photos in the beautiful nursery you designed, or in the family room or other spaces that hold so much meaning to your family. It’s where many of your family memories take place every day, after all! Or you may simply prefer to stay in the comfort of your own home without worrying about driving or going anywhere. Either way, booking an in-home newborn session with me means you get to have a relaxed, laid-back session without worrying about a thing.
What to expect at your in-home newborn session
I can help with wardrobe styling, or I can even bring a few dresses from my client closet. I’ll bring swaddles and onesies for baby, and even a few bow options for baby girl. During the session I provide what I like to call “posing guidance” without letting things feel too stiff or unnatural. We’re there to have fun after all, and document those moments too! And of course, we’ll take some of those precious individual portraits of just baby. You’ll always cherish those tiny little hands and feet!
