Meridian House in Washington, DC is one of those rare gems where you’re in the city, but you feel like you’re in your own little world. It simply adds magic to any wedding day! Whether you’re taking newlywed portraits in the historic gardens or dancing the night away in the reception gallery, it never disappoints.
So when SoRelle and Michael reached out about their summer wedding, I couldn’t wait to work together! We did their engagement photos this past spring at Meridian Hill just down the road. Since they live nearby and had their second date at the park, it was the perfect place. I loved their energy – even at sunrise, they couldn’t stop making each other laugh!
This carried over into their wedding day, which I knew it would. While getting ready, they spent lots of time hanging out with friends, family and their adorable cat. SoRelle’s gorgeous cathedral veil was also her mom’s. It was a beautiful complement to her classic gown, and their newlywed veil portraits are some of my favorite ever!
Following their touching wedding ceremony at St. Stephen and the Incarnation, we moved to the gardens at Meridian House for some newlywed photos. Seeing all the custom decor choices when we got to the venue was so much fun! To start, the escort cards were all hand-dyed with custom calligraphy. Their table number holders featured cute mini animal figures and their favors included custom koozies featuring “the purrfect pair” – a nod to their favorite cat! And in addition to their beautiful wedding cake, they had a cookie cake!
Also, the dancing was next level. The bride and groom kicked it off with a fun couples dance, and the father-daughter first dance was one of the best coordinated dances I’ve witnessed at a wedding! Seeing SoRelle and Michael surrounded by so much love made the day even better. I just know they’re going to have a beautiful marriage, and I’m so excited for them.
Congratulations, you two! I hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon in Hawaii – here are a few more sneak peeks from your special day!
