Earlier this fall my friend Ashley from Atelier Ashley Flowers reached out about a project she was working on for Light Up the Season DC. She was designing a woodland-inspired tree with whimsical accents, which would be auctioned off at the charity event benefitting Children’s National Hospital. At the event, attendees get to view original pieces including trees, menorahs, mantle decor and wreaths, all created as a collaboration between a notable local designer and a Children’s National patient.
Ashley’s design included a blend of handcrafted pieces and donated ornaments from Accent Decor (which were all so adorable). She hosted several #craftforacause parties at her home, where she showed volunteers how to make the dozens of floral hoop wreaths. Made of yarn and felt, they each have their own unique look. One of my favorite parts of the project was seeing all the distinct designs!
Once all the pieces were ready to go, a group of us joined Ashley at the Four Seasons Hotel to put it all together! I brought my camera along to capture a few photos of the morning, which you can look through below. We were all thrilled with how it turned out!
Light Up the Season takes place this Sunday, December 16, 2018 at The Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown. If you want to attend (and maybe put a bid in on this beautiful tree), you can buy your ticket here!
I want to give a huge thank you to Ashley for designing and putting together such a wonderful team. It was an honor to play a small part in the project. To learn more about the process of creating the trees, go to Ashley’s blog post! Enjoy a few of my favorite photos below.
