I often recommend morning golden hour, and this session shows why! We chose one of my favorite locations in Leesburg, Virginia, and spent an hour together in that beautiful morning light. Most of these photos were captured with my film camera. Can you tell I’m obsessed with soft, dreamy images? Film is simply the best!
Each day there are two golden hours – sunrise and sunset. The light is lowest in the sky and creates this gorgeous, soft glow. Photographers obviously love it, and clients do too! Morning is sometimes better for little ones compared to later in the evening, which is why I enjoy offering it.
Although you have to get up extra early, it often makes for some of the best photos! The kiddos are in a great mood, and you can knock it out early. In the summertime, it’s also MUCH cooler compared to sunset golden hour. These were taken in August, which as you know can get hot here in Northern Virginia. But we were done so early in the day, we barely noticed!
These photos were also taken for their youngest’s first birthday milestone. It’s always such a sweet time to document. For milestones, we usually take photos of just baby, and also family photos. Because why not document everything as it is, right now? Enjoy a few of my favorite moments below.
