Getaway House | Travel Photos

Getaway House | Shenandoah National Park Adventure

This year, we spent Memorial Day weekend in a tiny house. Technically, it was a tiny cabin. But it had everything we needed to get away from DC for a few days, unplug and reconnect with each other.

We first heard about Getaway House from our family (who also joined us for the trip). They were planning a couple nights away with their pup, and when we saw the cute little cabins we immediately said yes! At only 2 hours outside the city, it was an easy way to get out of town and try something new. The cabins come fully stocked with most of the essentials, including a cellphone lockbox to help you escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. They also had a complimentary s’mores kit, which was a cute touch. I couldn’t resist bringing along my camera and snapping a few photos on film!

My favorites from the trip:

  • Bringing Chewy along! We loved that the cabins were dog-friendly, especially since we don’t get to bring him on trips as much. He loved sitting by the huge window, watching birds and playing with his BarkBox toys.
  • Hiking at Shenandoah National Park. We did a short 2-mile hike the first day we got there, and a 5-mile hike on the second day. It was really easy to get to the park from the campsite, and we had a blast!
  • Brunching at Early Mountain Vineyards. Their dog-friendly patio made our wine tasting even more fun.
  • Campfire nights spent grilling food, eating s’mores and hanging out.

Spending time out in nature and away from our phones was the best part. Sometimes you just need to unplug and relax – Getaway House was the perfect way to do that! See some of my favorite photos from the trip below.

(If you want to check it out, they do have a referral program! You can save $25 on your first visit – and to be completely transparent, we would get $25 too! Go here to sign up:
