The garden maternity photos of my dreams are here! I had the honor of taking this beautiful family’s maternity and newborn photos as they welcomed baby girl. While planning this session, we knew we wanted a gorgeous garden setting, lots of golden hour light, and neutral and warm outfit color palettes to fit the autumn season.
WHAT TO WEAR FOR GARDEN MATERNITY PHOTOS
The gorgeous gown is a client closet maternity favorite by Rachel Pally. (Learn more about the client closet of dresses available for your portrait session here!) It’s the perfect neutral for photos, especially in a gorgeous greenery setting like this garden. It’s soft and comfortable, and the fit is incredibly flexible making it perfect for maternity and newborn photos. But it works for family photos too!! Mama picked out the cutest outfit for baby girl, and the bow accents were absolutely perfect. Just a little pop of color to really bring things together!
We also got really lucky with the leaves this year. They really were showing off in Northern Virginia at the end of October! It was also the perfect temperature (not too hot, not too cold), which is one of those things we can’t plan, but we take full advantage of when it happens. We were able to fully explore the garden, the open field, and this stunning wooded area filled with fall colors. It was simply gorgeous! Seeing the family again for their in-home newborn photos was the cherry on top of a wonderful photography season.
