Right before the holidays I met up with Rachel and Grant for sunrise Washington DC anniversary photos in one of the prettiest places in the city. We stopped by three iconic locations for photos, all within steps of each other: the Supreme Court, the Capitol Building and the Library of Congress. I love how each spot has its own distinct architecture, while still retaining that elegant DC feel. Add in their adorable dogs, Maggie and Hudson, and it’s obviously a dream session!
The main goal of the session was to get a cute Christmas card for them, so we made sure to take a few posed ones at each spot. The pups weren’t thrilled about the posing, but they did an incredible job (and they looked so cute)!
Rachel & Grant: thank you so much for trusting me to take your photos! I loved getting to know both of you, along with Maggie and Hudson. Enjoy a few of my favorites below!

[…] Another sunrise shoot for the win! This portrait session took place at Yards Park in Washington, DC along the Anacostia River. I’ve known Rachel and Grant (and their pups, Maggie and Hudson) for a couple years now. Working with them is always the best! Planning the session is always a breeze because Rachel has the best ideas. We both love film. And seeing their love grow each year for each other is a true honor. (Still loving everything they picked out for their Capitol Hill anniversary photos!) […]
