Expecting a baby girl? You may be so excited to pick out all the baby girl bows for her first photo shoot! As a Northern Virginia newborn photographer, I’ve learned a few things about which bows photograph best. Here are a few tips so you can pick out the perfect bow for her photos!
Today I’m sharing how to choose the perfect bows that will add a beautiful touch to her photos – without being overwhelming.
1. Less is more.Your baby girl’s adorable face and tiny features should always be the star of the show. Small bows are a favorite because they add a beautiful touch, without being overwhelming (or uncomfortable) for baby!
2. Comfort first. Choose tiny bows that are attached to soft, nylon headbands. These stretch gently, won’t leave marks on skin, and have a flexible fit so you don’t have to worry about size.
3. Velvet, cotton, and linen are all beautiful choices. Avoid stiff materials, anything with rough edges, or sequins and glitter.
4. Neutral colors will match any outfit. Cream, ivory, and white are classic favorites.
5. If you want a pop of color, soft blush tones, dusty blues, and mauve look beautiful. Avoid neon, orange, or bright red (unless you’re going for a holiday look for a couple of the photos).
6. Variety is always lovely! Have a few bow options on hand for in-home sessions. If you are doing a studio session, you’re welcome to choose a few bows from my collection.
I hope that helps you pick out bows for your baby girl! If you have more questions, or if you’re interested in booking a newborn session with me, inquire below.
