Fall Family Photo Session at Sky Meadows Park

Fall in Northern Virginia is truly magical. Crisp fall air, rolling hills, and gorgeous mornings make for a beautiful session! As a family photographer, one of my favorite spots is Sky Meadows State Park in Delaplane, Virginia. With its wide-open meadows, mountain views, and peaceful trails, it’s the perfect setting for relaxed and joyful family photos.

For this session, I met the sweetest family who wanted to celebrate fall with not just photos, but a little adventure. We wandered through the fields, let the kids explore, and took in the stunning Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop. I always captured the photos using my film camera and my digital camera. My favorite! What made their session extra fun? They brought along a cozy fall picnic – complete with apple cider donuts! The kids enjoyed the donuts, and it added such a personal touch to their photos. I always encourage families to include meaningful details. That can be a favorite snack, a blanket, or an activity you love doing together. It helps the session feel more like you and turns it into a memory you’ll treasure long after the photos are taken.
