As a DC family photographer, I had the pleasure of spending a beautiful morning with this beautiful family! They chose one of my favorite locations in Washington, DC: the Jefferson Memorial. Although we have to get up extra early for these sessions (they start right at sunrise), they are always worth it! We get the whole place to ourselves, and the soft morning light is stunning.
While planning their wardrobe, we kept blue tones as the main pop of color, with plenty of neutrals to round it out. Mom’s dress is stunning, and I just adored the little onesie James wore (he looks SO cute in it). And the blue blazer for dad was the perfect way to add a more formal look to their photos without feeling like too much. When planning your own wardrobe, I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way! I always want my clients to feel like they coordinate and look good together without feeling too “matchy.” (i.e. all in the same color shirt and jeans). When you really coordinate pieces like this, the final photos look beautiful AND they don’t take away from the emotion and connection your family has. The wardrobe simply complements that part!
My outdoor sessions take place April – early November, and you’ll want to book early in advance! We have to apply for a special permit through the National Park Service, and like I mentioned, all sessions are at sunrise. If you’ve always dreamed of photos here, it’s definitely worth it and I would love to chat! Fill out my contact form here to get started with your own Washington, DC dream session.
