Today I’m sharing cozy family photos from an indoor portrait session! This session took place in the fall, partially for Christmas card photos, and partially to document this adorable stage. While planning wardrobe (a service included in your portrait session with me), we looked for soft, cozy knits in neutral colors. Juliette wore an adorable sweater dress and knit tights. (Although, after running around a bit, we captured some photos without the knit tights!) Their pup, Freja, who you may remember from past sessions, got to join in on the fun too.

Juliette was 1.5 years old at this session, and at this age, it’s best to go with the flow. If you try to force smiles and family fun, it never happens how you want! Instead, we encouraged Juliette to run around and do her thing, while I was ready to capture the moments as they naturally happened. Her interactions with Freja were adorable! Giving her the freedom to explore and play on her own allowed us to capture her personality and get some of those classic “looking at the camera” shots everyone wants.

I photographed this session on medium format film, and with my digital camera. It turned out just as we hoped, and I’m thrilled to share a few of my favorite moments below!
