When I first talked with Janice on the phone, I immediately knew we were going to be friends. To be fair, I had already heard a lot about her from B since they became friends at the gym. I knew she baked delicious brownies (and B shared a couple with me so I can confirm it’s true), and I knew she was so excited when her fiancé proposed.
So when she reached out about their wedding, I couldn’t wait to work together! As we started talking about engagement shoot options, she mentioned they’d like to stop by Shaw’s Tavern in Washington DC. You see, Stephen and Janice actually had their very first date there, and it ended up becoming one of their regular spots.
During the session we found the same table they sat at years ago, and they ordered the same drinks. Seeing them smile across the table at each other made the whole session even sweeter! Afterwards, we wandered around the neighborhood for more photos. These two got so lucky with the weather – it was gorgeous out for being December! We stopped at the Howard Theatre, the metro and of course the charming row houses. It was the perfect place to document this special season of their lives.
Congratulations, Janice & Stephen!! I loved spending time with both of you, and I can’t wait for your wedding! Enjoy a few of these Shaw Neighborhood dc engagement photos below!
