No matter how much planning you do for your wedding day, there’s one thing you have to leave up to fate: the weather. All last week was drenched in rainstorm after rainstorm, and by the time Saturday rolled around we were hoping for a break in the rain. Sarah and Jake had a gorgeous outdoor ceremony planned at Old House Vineyards, and we all wanted to see that vision come to life.
Well, I’m thrilled to say the rain stopped just in time for their first look! We were able to get all the portraits done outside, and the ceremony was every bit as beautiful as I imagined. Thanks to the cloud coverage, the day was filled with soft, romantic light that was perfect for all the photos!
After the ceremony we took a few more “just married” photos, but at this point we had resigned to the fact that a glowy golden hour was extremely unlikely. It had been overcast the entire day, and the closer you get to sunset the darker it gets. So imagine our surprise when a sliver of golden light unexpectedly peeked through the clouds! Needless to say, we all hustled outside to capture Sarah and Jake surrounded by that gorgeous sunset!!
Within five minutes, the sun slipped away, and rain began to fall as the bride and groom walked through the field for the last portrait of the evening. We all marveled over the fact that not only did we get golden hour light when we least expected – but that we also happened to be there during the few minutes it appeared! If that isn’t a sign that these two are meant to be together, I don’t know what is!
Congratulations, Sarah and Jake!! I wish you both the very best as you start on this next chapter in your story together. You were surrounded by so much love from each other, your families and your friends, and I know you’ll carry that with you for the rest of your lives.
I can’t thank you enough for trusting me to document such a memorable day. It was truly an honor. Enjoy more of these Old House Vineyards wedding photos below!
