Location: Jones Point Park in Alexandria, Virginia
Why I love it for photo sessions: Jones Point Park is located just south of Old Town Alexandria on the Potomac River. It includes a lighthouse built in 1855, trails through the woods, an open field, and waterfront views. It’s ideal if you want nature, architecture, and photos by the water. It’s also much quieter than Old Town Alexandria.
Best time to take photos here: This location is beautiful at sunrise or the last few hours before sunset. Golden hour offers the most flattering light, and my goodness it makes the views even more stunning! In the morning, the sun rises over the water so sunrise is best if you want to highlight those views. At sunset, it sets behind the trees.
Is a permit or admission required? No permit or fee is required.
Parking info: There is free parking on-site.
This sounds perfect! How can we book a Jones Point Park portrait session with you?
First, fill out my contact form here! I’ll be in touch within 48-business hours with all the details (although, usually I get back to you sooner). My email will include pricing info, my earliest spots available to book, and everything else. If you are ready to book at that point, you can easily do so online! If you want to chat first, you’re always welcome to set up a phone call or an appointment at my photography studio in Sterling to chat.
My portrait session calendar typically fills up 1-4 months in advance, with outdoor sessions taking place mid-April through mid-November. I recommend booking early to ensure you get a spot!
